The Hook Grip


The hook grip is one of the starting elements of Olympic Weightlifting.  This grip will allow you to hold on to the bar with out it slipping out on the powerful extension of the pull in the snatch or clean.  Grip the bar and place your thumb under your middle and pointer fingers.  Give it a little tug and you can feel your hand glued to the bar.  It takes some getting used to once you start using it but it will pay off in the end.  Soon you will find yourself using everywhere in the gym.  Use it.
