If you want something different in your life, you have to start moving differently. You can’t continue to do what you’ve been doing and expect to get different results.

People say this is the definition of insanity… continue doing the same things over and over again and expect different results.

And, of course, this can be applied to everything in life. In your personal life, in business, in the gym, at school, with your kids, with your boss, with your family.

We grind and grind, trying to move ourselves forward, trying to make changes, but when we continue along the same path of what hasn’t worked before, why would we expect anything to change?

I know I have been guilty of this. I want things to change, but I don’t want to make the changes. Or better yet, I don’t know how to make the changes so I continue along the same path. But then I’m frustrated nothing has changed.

It’s a vicious cycle. One I’ve done too many times to count. One I know I want to change (there’s that word again!).

Change in life is inevitable. Nothing ever stays the same. We must embrace it, learn it, roll with it, in order to grow and move forward in life.

I’ve found this always starts with your mindset, then expands out to your actions.

I’ll give you a perfect example of something I’m dealing with now. Ever since having Gabriel, life has (certainly) changed…rightfully so. And my mindset around work has changed. I love my jobs, but doing them with a baby in tow has become increasingly difficult. It’s been a constant battle of spending time with him while continuing to grow and expand our businesses.

In order for me to do that, however, I need to change my mindset. I need to set aside time away from Gabriel to focus and work uninterrupted, even if it’s only a couple hours a week. I have to be okay with doing that if I want to make the changes necessary in our lives.

This is hard for me, because we’ve been through a lot to get our miracle baby. And I hate missing anything in his life. But I also know nothing will change if nothing changes.

So this week, I am focusing on making one change. Too many changes and it becomes overwhelming, which often results in analysis paralysis. Aka, nothing happens. You don’t know where to begin so instead, you just do nothing. And we all know how that ends.

My change for this week is setting aside some time for me to focus on work. To give myself the time away from Gabriel to truly focus on my to do list without having to focus on him. Nick and I wrote out our daily schedule so we could see where I could build it in. Now it’s time to implement it.

What about you? What is one thing you want to focus on in order to make the changes you want to see?

I hope you have an amazing week. And find the one thing you want to focus on this week to make the necessary changes you need to in order to move forward.
