We’ve talked a lot about rest lately, but I’ve recently had a friend remind me again how important it truly is. Not just rest for your body, aka, time away from the gym and making sure you get enough sleep, but rest for your mind too.

I am guilty of *always* working. Of my brain always being on the go. It’s really hard for me to just turn everything off and be truly in the moment.

It’s stressful and I know it’s not healthy, and I’m really trying hard to step away from work for a little each day. It doesn’t always work, but focusing on it and making it a point to be a part of my day helps.

I actually did this both days this weekend. On Saturday, I put my phone away and just completely rested in my comfy chair in the living room. It was nice to let everything relax… my body, mind and soul. I definitely needed that to reset as we head into another week.

And on Sunday, I sat outside with Gabriel and the pups and just enjoyed the beautiful weather. I wasn’t worried about work or what needed to be done. I actually just sat.

It sounds so boring, but I absolutely loved it. It was a gorgeous day… sunny, but not too hot. A nice breeze. No mosquitoes eating me alive. And it was fun to watch Gabriel explore and play. His imagination is amazing.

I know I have my time to work. And I’ve made a point to be very intentional when it comes to that. But I also know I need to be more intentional with my rest. With truly taking a step away from work and allowing everything to reset and rejuvenate.

Believe me, I always have something to do. And I am guilty of just go-go-going. But that never ends well for me.

This is my year to stop talking about it and actually following through with it. This is my year to actually enjoy the fruits of my labor. This is my year.

I’m claiming it. And I hope you do too.

Make sure you rest, relax, and rejuvenate. Don’t wait for life to force you to rest. I promise, it’s way worse when that happens!

Have a beautiful week. Enjoy your week. And make sure you rest!
