Safe spaces. No, not what you hear on TV that are on college campuses… and not your judgment free zone like at Planet Fitness with a lunk alarm. But a real safe space. A place you can go to be yourself. Some place that doesn’t try and change you or make you act a certain way to fit in.

8 years ago, I wasn’t very comfortable in my skin and who I was as a person. 270 lbs, buying huge clothes that never fit quite right. I would change my personality or act a certain way when I was around certain people. I was bigger and always felt attacked or like I was being looked at and judged. It was a ME problem. I needed to change, but I needed a place I could change. A place that fostered growth, asked challenging questions and gave me different perspective on the things I was going through.

We’ve had some interesting, emotional messages from a couple members this past week. Apparently we are creating that safe place unintentionally. People feel safe to come talk to us about “real life.” This is how we change the world and help people actually change their life. Making lifelong friends along the way.

People also say things like “I need to get a little fitter before I come into CrossFit” or “I need to practice those movements before I come in the gym.” That’s like saying I need a math tutor but I want to get better at math before I hire one.

Jesus said come as you are. In Jeremiah 29:11, it says, “For I know the plans I have for you, declares the Lord, plans for welfare and not for evil, to give you a future and a hope.”

Everybody is welcome at CFC; come as you are. We are here to help you get fit but also work through life together! Imperfect people working imperfectly together getting a little bit better every day!

Have a great week, friends!
