We tend to get so caught up in the minutiae. The weeds. The small things. The stuff that isn’t necessarily super important.

And we get lost. We lose focus. We forget what we’re aiming for. We get off track.

It’s important to remember the end goal. To focus on what matters. To have small checkpoints along the way to keep you on track.

I know I’m guilty of this. Digging down so deep into the small things that I lose focus of what’s really, truly important. Of what my end goal actually is.

And it ends up with me taking the long way around… or worse, wasting precious time on things that don’t matter. And then I have to backtrack to get myself back on point.

Have you done this? Have you found yourself spinning your wheels on the little things that don’t really matter? That won’t get you where you want to go?

And don’t get me wrong… I know the small things help. I know there are small steps along the way that you need to reach your goals. But what I’m talking about is something different.

I’m talking about things that are time wasters. Things that don’t help you reach your goals. Things that just fill up your time and make you think you’re being so busy and productive. The things that when you end your day, you say to yourself, “Whew. I’m exhausted and I felt so busy today, but what did I actually DO?”

I feel like Nick and I have been there here lately. So busy, but what have we actually DONE?

And we have huge goals… HUGE. So it’s time to re-focus on what matters. To write our goals so they’re right in front of us, where we can see them, day in and day out. And then break them down into those small steps that do matter!

Whew! This year has flown by, and so much has happened, in the best way possible. But it’s time to get serious. Time to take control of our time and work our butts off for where we’re going and where we want to be.

Hang on tight, y’all. It’s going to be an amazing ride!

Have a beautiful week! And remember to focus on what matters!
